Ethanol fuel is one of the most popular topics these days. Your friends or family member probably talk about it sometimes. If you want to be able to take part of that conversation, you will need to know certain things about this fuel. As everything, ethanol fuel has good and bad sides. So, you will have to know both of them.
A good side is that ethanol fuel burns cleaner than fossil fuel. Actually, it is one of the most important benefits of this fuel. Because of climate change and effort to save the planet, many people are using or they want to use this fuel. Also, ethanol fuel has better MPG (mile per gallon) than fossil fuel. Ethanol fuel is produced from corn. Because it can be grown in a local country, there is no need for oil import. You should know that import and export cause a lot of pollution. Oil tankers and even tracks have huge engines that burn a lot of fossil fuel so they cause a lot of pollution.
Maybe it looks perfect, but ethanol fuel has some drawbacks. One of its pros is also a negative side. For example, if a corn is grown in the United States, and a drought occurs, all of the corn will be ruined. As the result, a fuel price will rise. Also, a size of a land needed to grow corn needed for production of ethanol fuel that would be enough for all cars is huge. As the result, this will reduce the decrease of cultivation of other crops. This can increase the price of food.
